Marble Painting
Marble Painting
Originating Idea: The children love to paint anything! This is a creative way to show them that you can paint other ways.
Age: one-two years
Materials for child and teacher: disposable cake pans or aluminum pans
paper
paint
marbles or golf balls
Beginning: I know that several of you like to paint. I thought of a fun way to create a picture. It is with marbles! We are going to put a little bit of paint on the paper inside of the pan and roll the marble around and see what we can make!
Middle: Help kids put paint on the paper and roll the marbles around if needed
End: "Look at your pictures! Let's find a place to hang them so you can look at them!"
Earlier: may only pick on color to use and may need help with rolling the marble in the pan
Middle: these children will be able to roll the painted marble
Advanced: these children may want to mix colors
Scaffolding: Comment on the kids work. Help the early learners to manipulate the cake tin. You can also encourage the advanced children to mix the colors and see what the two colors make.
Extending the play: Tell the children that the marbles and cake tins will be in open art if they want to continue to make more picture.
