Goodbye Song
Age: one year-three years
Originating Idea:
At the center that I did my hours at the teacher would always end the day with the goodbye song. She gave the children a choice...they could sing it fast, slow or opera style. It showed the kids how to do things differently. They loved it!
Materials: goodbye song
children
Beginning:
Have everyone come to the carpet toward the end of the day
Middle:
Sing the goodbye song with hand movements in your normal voice. Next, do it in a slow voice, fast voice, etc...
End:
Let a child choose the way to sing it
Early learners may sing the song the same every time.
Middle learners may sing in the same voice but use exaggerated hand movements.
Advanced learners will sing it the way the teacher is and use the correct hand movement.
Extending: Have music playing at different times during the day and let the children sing in different voices.
